David Baptiste

Member of the Australian Institute of Horticulture

David Baptiste is a member of the Australian Institute of Horticulture and a past member on the Management Committee of Australia’s Open Garden Scheme SA, graduating with a Certificate of Horticulture from Ryde School of Horticulture (NSW).

Following graduation David chose Adelaide to settle and develop his garden design and construction business and over the years has accumulated a wealth of experience and knowledge.

In the early stages of establishing his business, David personally undertook the completion of landscape installations. As a result he has gained a full understanding of the practical nature of landscape construction and the many idiosyncrasies of designing gardens for the South Australian climate.

David has evolved his own personal style and has created a market niche for designing stylish yet practical gardens. He has the ability to effectively utilise all aspects of the gardens' area, which has become more important in today's more compact living environment.

The demands to save water has been met by David creating water efficient gardens with the use of the correct combination of plants, while still being able to create a garden that is lush and verdant.

David's distinctive style attracts the attention of many garden lovers, garden writers and lifestyle programs Australia wide. His ability to create the feeling of space and abundance in all his gardens, being professionally recognised in 2003, 2004 and again in 2008 by the Landscape Association of South Australia Inc. when he received several 'Awards of Excellence'.

His own private garden 'Bagatelle' developed over an 18 year period, which has now been sold, drew large attendances when opened as part of Australia's Open Garden Scheme in 2002-03 and 2003- 04.
